    We have recently produced a rather special precision machining parts. Due to its special requirements, it is a relatively typical part. I would like to share it with you, hoping it can give you a reference.

1.      Structural specificity.

From the product pictures, this product has round and square parts, which is difficult to process. But from the structure, you may say that it can be processed by 5 axis CNC. In theory, it is possible, but the actual drawing requires very high precision, and 5 axis CNC processing cannot meet the precision requirements at all.

2. High precision.

Since the requirements for the two teeth of the parts are very high, first of all, the contour of the two teeth is required to be within 0.005mm, and the symmetry of the two teeth to the middle cylinder is also required to be within 0.005mm, and the verticality of the teeth and the center of the cylindrical axis is also required to be within 0.005mm. It is very difficult to guarantee all the precision requirements together, which requires extremely high accuracy in each process. For example, for the teeth on both sides, we use optical grinders for processing.

3. Difficult clamping characteristics.

The datum of this product is the cylindrical shaft, and in theory, all subsequent processing should be based on the cylindrical shaft as the datum. However, in the actual processing, due to the shape characteristics of the cylinder, it is very difficult to clamp and it is easy to have deviations. Therefore, we often need to convert the datum in the subsequent processing steps, which makes some places that originally have low requirements, but in order to convert the datum, it is also necessary to improve the accuracy, which makes the processing very difficult.

     For precision machining, the difficulty of machining for different products and requirements varies greatly. Especially for some high-precision and high-difficulty products, sometimes it takes constant attempts to find a good machining method. This requires the manufacturer to have good equipment, good operators and good engineers. For a good manufacturer, all of these are indispensable.
